The American biotech company Light Bio has developed technology to create genetically modified plants that glow in the dark. The company has incorporated genes from a bioluminescent mushroom into petunias that they have cultivated, successfully creating self-luminous plants.
Light Bio has been experimenting with various types of plants to make them bioluminescent since the company was founded in 2019. They were granted permission last month to start selling these neon-green, self-luminous petunias in the American market. According to Light Bio, over 10,000 customers have already lined up to purchase their self-luminous flowers.
